Developing the Park Court

Not long ago we introduced the Park Court — the first court in development that marks a starting point both for the Krokanti Games team and for players of the Padel Rivals padel video game.
Today, we're taking a closer look at the artistic development process behind this key environment.
Getting started
Everything begins by grounding ideas and concepts. Nova Vista is a city devoted to padel. It's the sport’s standard-bearer, the cradle of padel worldwide, and the city that hosts the most prestigious league: the Padel Rivals League.
That means the city breathes padel, and it should be reflected in every corner.
The park is a calm place — a miniature "Central Park". A green lung where people come to relax, spend time, and above all, watch padel.
So we envisioned elements like a kiosk selling Padel Rivals League merchandise, a fountain with a racquet motif, and signage that speaks to the city's padel fever.
Sketches and line art are essential to quickly define how this scene should look and feel.

Blocking
Blocking helps us control space, layout, and distances. It might seem like an extra step, but it's incredibly useful.
Blocking
The idea is to create very simple 3D models and, either in Blender or directly in Unity, position them to approximate the intended composition and layout.

Once the blocking is validated, we roll up our sleeves and move on to modeling the final assets.
Modeling
A padel video game has a central, defining element: the padel court. This is one of the models we've refined the most, with careful design decisions along the way — for several reasons we'll delve into in a future article.

Beyond the court itself, dressing a park means producing a large number of assets: from bins and vegetation to perimeter buildings, roads, traffic lights, bridges — and much more.
As the models take shape, we move into texturing tests — bringing color, depth, and shadows to the scene.

And finally, shaders. That's exactly what we're working on right now, which is why we can't yet show the finished Park Court. We'll share more in future updates!
Remember, Padel Rivals is a padel video game for PC and consoles currently in development. If you'd like to support the project, simple actions like subscribing to our newsletter and following us on social media help increase our visibility tremendously.
